Odissi Dance by Raka Bandyo
Odissi (O-ri-see) dance, a classical dance forms from India, is believed to be the oldest classical dance form that still exists and is thriving to this day on the earth. It is an exquisite representation of the Hindustani traditions of art that transport the individuals in the audience into another parallel reality, full of wonder and bliss, where they experience the essence of their own consciousness.
Raka Bandyo has been a student of the classical Indian art form of Odissi Dance in the lineage of Guru Padma Vibshun Kelucharan Mohapatra for over 35 years. She has performed both as a solo artist and in group dances at festivals, educational events, and celebrations around the world. She currently resides and teaches Odissi and Tantric dance, Ayurveda, Jyotish, and Meditation in Madison, WI.
