Kavita Kat Macmillan
Kavita Kat Macmillan is a devotional musician & yoga instructor who brings over 20 years of teaching, sharing kirtan & study of nada (sound) yoga to her classes and offerings. Kavita’s ‘Open Heart Kirtan’ presents traditional mantras in original compositions with Western and Indian influences. Through her musical offerings, yoga asana classes & ‘Open your Voice ~ Open your Heart’ Kirtan workshops Kavita guides students in truthful open expression and exploration of voice & movement, connecting deeply with the divine spirit.
Introduced to Kirtan while living in New York City and training to teach yoga, Kavita had the good fortune to be infrequent company & practice with great western Kirtan wallahs Krishna Das, Bhagavan Das & Shyam Das. At the same time, she was introduced to the path of Indian Classical Music and began to study with internationally acclaimed pianist & composer Michael Harrison. Deeply moved by this lineage and practice Kavita continued to study extensively with that family of artists in the US and India. She now studies Hindustani singing with an internationally recognized vocalist, composer and performer Warren Senders. Her other music projects include the gypsy-fusion kirtan band “Bhakti Shakti” as well as the mystical spirit song duo “Celestial Alchemy.”
Kavita facilitates at retreats, workshops, private & group classes & spiritual festivals and has shared the stage with artists such as Gina Sala, Dave Stringer, Daniel Paul, Steve Gorn, Bhagavan Das, Saul David Raye, Jaya Laksmi & Ananda, and many others. Kavita recently released the single “Take My Hand” featuring Bhakti legend Jai Uttal and produced by Ben Leinbach. Her upcoming album “The Beloved Lives Inside’ will be finished early next year.

Kavita’s transformational vocal opening workshop!
Through group exercises, movement, songs and lots of connecting and support, Kavita guides participants to unpack energetics that hold us back from singing freely. Through this process we allow for the opening of our own path of vocal expression.
