Born in Boston and raised in LA, Anvita Sharma is a company performer and faculty member of Kathak Kala Academy. Brought up in a traditional Indian family of Hindustani classical artists, Anvita was exposed to dance early and has been performing various styles of Indian dance over the past 26 years. She has 18 years of training in Kathak, and her journey continues as a disciple of Guru Rachana Upadhyay in Los Angeles. Although a full time RN, she has enjoyed teaching her own Kathak classes for the past 11 years, conducting workshops at schools and Kundalini studios, and continues to perform year round at select venues. Some of her work has been presented at Madison Square Gardens, JPL, USC Pacific Asia Museum, Mumbai Sister Cities, IJWD and the Ratha Yatra festival. Anvita is also a member of Indian Performing Arts Center (IPAC), a non-profit organization which strives to preserve Indian culture through dance. She is also working on her 4th year Kathak senior diploma from Prayaag Sangeet Samiti Music Institution in Allahabad, India.
